Hey guys, it’s Jason.
I’ve sat around pondering how I should write up this report for some time now.
I feel like I’m walking in the footsteps of giants. Following the likes of the major tournament organizers we all know and love. So I figured I would keep to my own style – which is short and sweet.
First, A Big Shoutout To Everyone Involved
I couldn’t have asked for things to have gone any better.
First and foremost, a huge “thank you” to Tim Atwood and Tim Moran for all of their help setting up this event.

And to Meg Atwood for baking lots of goodies and running the bake sale. Without their help there is no way it would have gone as flawlessly as it did.

Next, I would like to thank all of our guests, Parkville Market staff. And, of course the great Jeff Menges for coming out to sign and alter our cards. Without all of you the event couldn’t have been as special as it was. It’s all of you who made it so magical.

HydraTilt 2024: An Old School MTG Tournament To Remember
HydraTilt 2024 was a 2 day old school event on April 26th and 27th held at Parkville Market in Hartford CT. On Friday evening we had free play with the suggestion of AAA and 7 point singleton.

On Saturday we held a tournament hosting 63 old school mtg players. The format was 93/94 regular Atlantic ruleset with Gentlemen’s Rules – Mind Twist, Ancestral Recall, or Library of Alexandria all banned. Plus, a special “event only” errata on Rock Hydra: Grow heads for R instead of RRR during your upkeep.

With a more balanced playing field, we saw a LOT of decklist creativity – some even building their entire deck around Hydra combos! And with so many raffle donations, some people walked away with some incredible prizes.

The event was a huge success with lots of noise to bring it back next year and even bigger if possible! Check out all the photos from all the fun that was had and all the memories created!
$3,045 Raised For Charity
We decided to support a local Hartford charity called Hands on Hartford. They do all sorts of support for low income families, the homeless, and children programs. With the help of the old school community we were able to raise $3,045.00 total for the charity between the raffle prize donations and the bake sale which was done by Tim Atwood’s wife Meg Atwood.
Meg worked for Lego, and they were willing to match the bake sale money raised. The funds will were allocated to the MANNA Food Pantry and the Weekend Backpack program which sends meals home to kids on weekends whose families struggle with food security.
Thank you all so much for coming out and supporting Hands on Hartford. I cannot express how happy I am to be apart of this fantastic community we have here. Look forward to seeing you all at the next event and of course HydraTilt 2025!
Cheers,
Jason Williams
